Representative Matters

• Successfully defended a corporate executive in a three-week federal criminal trial in which the government had alleged contracting fraud. The government claimed that our client had engaged in a scheme to defraud the government in connection with the sale of rocket fuel. The jury took less than 30 minutes to acquit.
• Obtained an acquittal for a waste-hauling corporation after an eight-week federal criminal antitrust trial. The government had alleged a customer and geographic market allocation scheme.
• Successfully represented Connecticut’s Commissioner of Public Works in a federal corruption investigation that led to the resignation and federal conviction of Connecticut’s governor. Negotiated a declination of prosecution for our client.
• Successfully defended financial fund manager after his partner engaged in significant fraudulent scheme. Obtained declination of criminal prosecution and declination of regulatory enforcement.
• Served as lead counsel for Connecticut’s former Senate minority leader in an investigation by the Connecticut General Assembly’s Bipartisan Committee of Review.
• Defended former Congressional candidate in election law prosecution. Obtained a below-guidelines sentence.
• Obtained non-prosecution agreement for key political party employee in comprehensive investigation of fundraising activities by DOJ.
• Obtained declination of enforcement proceedings in Connecticut Banking Department investigation for an advisor whose partner engaged in a fraudulent scheme.
• Served as trial counsel for executive accused of kickback scheme in the health insurance field.
• Represented Connecticut’s Commissioner of the Department of Transportation in an Election Commission investigation. In connection with an investigation into fundraising practices, negotiated a stipulated resolution with the commission that did not include any findings of knowing violations.
• Successfully defended executive in illegal dumping case involving national metal plating company.
