02 Jun LBM Properties, LLC v. DirecTV, Inc.
Plaintiffs brought this suit on behalf of themselves and other owners of multi-unit apartment properties in California, to stop DirecTV’s policy and practice of installing its equipment on their buildings without their permission. The Complaint was filed in March of 2014. On September 11, 2015, the Court granted in part and denied in part Defendant’s motion to strike the class-wide claims in the case.
On January 25, 2018, the Court certified a class consisting of all landlords that own and rent or lease residential multi-dwelling unit properties in California where DirecTV or its agents have permanently installed equipment in common or restricted areas of the properties.
Following several negotiating sessions, the parties reached an agreement to settle the case on behalf of the injunction-only class that had been certified by the Court. On August 4, 2020, the Court granted Plaintiffs’ Motion for Final Approval of the Settlement.
