22 Jul Taylor v. The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc.
On October 6, 2016, Plaintiff filed a complaint in the Superior Court for the State of Connecticut, Judicial District of Hartford, on behalf of a class of persons who had been charged for optional coverages for automobile policies without their prior consent. Plaintiff alleges that Defendant’s practice is a breach of contract, a violation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practice Act and the California Unfair Trade Practices Act. The case is captioned Taylor v. The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., No. HHD-CV16-6072110-S. On September 26, 2017, the Court denied Defendant’s Motion to Dismiss the Complaint.
Following discovery and negotiations, the parties reached an agreement to settle the case on behalf of a California and Connecticut class. Plaintiffs filed the Settlement Agreement with the court for approval on April 5, 2019. The Court preliminary approved the Settlement on April 25, 2019 and Final Approval was granted on September 12, 2019.
