20 May Christopher M. Barrett
Chris is an experienced civil litigation lawyer who represents individuals and classes against large corporations. An experienced class-action attorney, Chris has over 13 years of experience representing victims of corporate misconduct, including employees and retirees whose benefits were wrongfully diminished or withheld, defrauded investors, and consumers in antitrust cases. For the last eight years, Chris has mostly litigated cases seeking to recover benefits under ERISA.
Over his career as a class action attorney, he has successfully prosecuted many cases in which class members have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars. He is currently litigating class actions against corporations alleged to have violated ERISA by underpaying benefits, including, but not limited to, FedEx, Merrill Lynch, Delta, DuPont, Pinnacle West, U.S. Bancorp, MetLife, UPS, Kohler, and Sprint. He is also a member of a team prosecuting antitrust claims against some of the largest real estate companies in the country.
Chris has also served as pro bono counsel to clients unable to afford legal counsel. He has served as trial counsel in significant federal felony cases and as a volunteer attorney on the District of Connecticut’s Civil Pro Bono Panel.
Before joining Izard, Kindall & Raabe, Chris was an attorney with a prominent national law firm, where his practice focused on prosecuting class actions on behalf of investors under federal securities laws, and a large international firm.
He is a member of the Connecticut and New York bars and is admitted to practice in the District of Connecticut, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
He received his J.D., magna cum laude from Fordham University School of Law where he served as a member of the Fordham Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif and the Alpha Sigma Nu honor society. For his work in the law school’s law clinic, he was awarded the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award. He earned his B.S. (finance) from Long Island University. During law school, Chris served as a judicial intern to two United States District Judges and a New York Supreme Court Justice.
